West Metro Prowlers Summer Ball 2026
#: 14U Summer    ID:    Section:
Description:

West Metro Prowlers BigWest League / Metro Area High School Summer League 2026

West Metro Prowlers Fastpitch Softball

14U & 16U/18U/HS - Summer 2026

*Summer 2026 ONLY: If you are a younger player and interested in playing up to 14U, please inquire by December 10, 2025. Questions?  hwortz@isd110.org

This is a competitive, skills, community based traveling league and an evaluation is used. Ideal team roster size is 11-13  players and no player is guaranteed a spot on any team regardless of team placement in previous leagues/seasons. Teams will be formed with players that have competitive experience and skill level to compete in the MN Softball BigWest/Metro Area HS League, 2 local MN/WI tournaments, State Qualifiers tournament & potentially State Tournament.

PLAYER AVAILABILITY FOR SUMMER:  Participants should make themselves AVAILABLE for ALL June weekends until they know their tournament schedule, likely finalized March 2026.  Participants should be available for the July Qualifiers Tournament and State Tournament.  These dates will likely be noted soon on the MN Softball Site.

For 2026 we will rely on volunteer parent or non-parent assistant coaches and potentially a team manager.  We haven't had luck with non-parent full time coaching applicants for our teams and parents have been assigned to coach for the past 4 years.

14U & 16U/18U/HS  - Anyone interested regardless of where you live or go to school can register for  West Metro Prowlers Softball. Historically our program participants have resided in Waconia, Carver, Cologne, Delano, Mayer,  Minnetrista, Eden Prairie, New Germany, Norwood-Young America, Excelsior, Chaska, Glencoe, St. Bonifacius, Hutchinson, Lester Prairie, Victoria, Winsted & MORE! *Please note, depending on your community/school, you MAY need a waiver to tryout and play with us. Please check in with your home association before registering with Prowlers. MN Softball Bylaws

There is no guarantee that there will be enough players to fill out a team. There could also be an opportunity to form more than one team. Independent evaluators will be used. WAA and the Softball Advisory Board will also consider previous season coaches evaluations to create teams. In the event you were evaluated and not selected to the West Metro Prowlers you will receive a full refund minus the $15 evaluation fee/$10 processing fee ($25 total.)

League games will be played one or two nights per week, Mon-Thursday, however, if games are rescheduled due to weather you could potentially play Fri/Sat/Sun. The league plays double headers on game nights. Tournaments will be on weekends. Home games will be played at the Waconia High School East Varsity & JV Field Complex in Waconia.

In season practices will take place in Waconia 1-2 evenings a week  beginning around May 18th (14U) and around June 1 (16U/18U/HS.)

All uniforms will be available at the January evaluation for participants to try on so the correct size is ordered. A parent/guardian must come in to tryouts with their player to try on the jersey. Parents/guardians will be asked to initial that they have tried on the uniforms and the correct size was selected. WAA is not liable if the uniform was not tried on and the correct size wasn’t selected.

Off season training and player development opportunities will be communicated via email as they are coordinated beginning fall of 2025 and will be “à la carte.” Likely in February. We support multi-sport athletes so please pick and choose what position specific, hitting, pitching and catching training opportunities work into your schedule as they are presented locally or at nearby facilities.  We HIGHLY encourage our athletes to train in the off season at whatever facilities work best in their schedule. We ask for your team softball commitment beginning spring/summer 2026 (Mid May-July.) During the primary softball season of June/July players are expected to make softball their top priority sport and attend 90%-100% practices and games. Please communicate major conflicts and unavoidable absences during the June/July softball season prior to  evaluations and team placement as this may affect team roster size.
